ASTC is seeking a Leading Hand – Mowing, Ovals & Parks Maintenance to make a real impact across our ovals, parks, reserves, and public spaces. In this hands-on leadership role, you will coordinate and mentor a small team, delivering top-quality turf management, mowing, pruning, weed and pest control, and general grounds maintenance. You will oversee the safe operation of horticultural machinery, optimize work practices, and ensure compliance with all safety and quality standards. The ideal candidate thrives in a collaborative, multicultural environment, communicates effectively with team members and the public, and demonstrates a proactive, solution-focused approach. If you are passionate about maintaining vibrant public spaces, leading by example, and contributing to a respectful and inclusive workplace, this is your opportunity to grow with ASTC.

You will be highly organised, with the ability to plan, prioritise, and monitor daily work schedules while ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Competence in the safe operation and maintenance of horticultural machinery and equipment, combined with a thorough understanding of WHS obligations—including risk management, chemical handling, and incident reporting—is essential. Strong communication and recordkeeping skills will enable you to interact effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and the public, while your cultural awareness and commitment to a respectful, inclusive workplace will ensure you contribute positively to ASTC’s team environment.
