Job Description
What We Are Looking For
We’re looking for a proactive and community-focused individual to join our Ranger Unit as a frontline representative of Alice Springs Town Council. In this role, you’ll play a vital part in promoting community safety and compliance by educating, supporting, and engaging with residents. You’ll conduct regular patrols, investigate and respond to by-law breaches, and take appropriate action to maintain a safe and respectful community environment. This includes animal management, parking and signage checks, and ensuring public spaces remain welcoming and well-maintained. You’ll also build strong partnerships with community groups, government agencies, and residents, representing Council with professionalism and integrity. What You Will Bring
You will bring strong regulatory knowledge and the confidence to interpret and apply Council legislation and policies to protect and support the community. With proven experience conducting investigations, preparing clear reports, and presenting evidence in court, you demonstrate sound judgement and professionalism in every interaction. Physically fit and adaptable, you’re comfortable working outdoors in all conditions and handling large animals safely, while maintaining a strong focus on workplace health and safety. You’re an excellent communicator who builds trust with the public, government agencies, and colleagues, thriving both independently and as part of a team. Equipped with an NT C Class driver licence and the ability to operate vehicles in off-road conditions, you’re ready to meet key compliance requirements, including relevant licences, clearances, and certifications. Your proactive approach, resilience, and commitment to community wellbeing make you an ideal ambassador for the Ranger Unit.
Must Have: Certificate IV in Local Governance or working towards, Able to obtain NT Category ABC firearms license and prohibited weapons (baton), NT C class driver license to be able to drive in the NT, Administer first aid and resuscitation (minimum), NT Construction Industry Induction (White Card), NT Work Zone Traffic Management - RIIWHS205D & RIIWHS302D (or current equivalent) or have the ability to obtain, and Current National Police Criminal History.
Please note:Acurrent National Police Clearance, issued within the last six (6) months, is an essential requirement for this position.
