Job Description
About the Opportunity
In this hands-on role, you’ll be the friendly face of our operations—delivering excellent customer service at the weighbridge and Rediscovery Centre, handling cash and operating point-of-sale systems with confidence. You’ll play a key part in giving recyclable goods a second life by helping collect, sort, display, and sell items at the Rediscovery Centre.
Your day-to-day will include inspecting and assessing loads, responding to customer enquiries, and ensuring accurate charging and record-keeping. You’ll also carry out equipment checks, report maintenance needs, and follow safe work procedures to keep everything running smoothly.
Working both independently and as part of a supportive team, you’ll uphold Council values, contribute to a respectful workplace, and help maintain a safe environment for all. If you’re someone who takes pride in doing meaningful work that supports sustainability and community, this is the opportunity for you.
We're seeking a reliable operator with hands-on experience using heavy machinery like compactors and forklifts in a waste management or similar setting. You’ll bring a strong safety mindset, a solid understanding of waste processes, and the ability to keep equipment running through routine maintenance.
Clear communication and teamwork are key, but you’ll also be confident working independently in a dynamic environment. Flexibility is important—you’ll be available for part-time hours, including weekends when needed.
If you're practical, safety-conscious, and ready to contribute to a high-performing team, we’d love to hear from you!
Applications will be reviewed as they are received, applicants are encouraged to apply as soon as possible the position will remain open until filled and may close without further notice. Otherwise, closing date 4 July 2025.
